This will be your last opportunity to wear a Snell 2000 helmet while land speed racing.  If you haven't seen the Snell cert. sticker -- it's inside the fabric liner -- usually on the inside surface of the impact-absorbing material.  You'll likely have to dig to find it.  It's a rotogravure sticker -- that is, printed on shiny metallic foil.  They're usually pretty difficult to find, but it'll be there - someplace.

Thanks I just did the search and found the rule

Snell Foundation 2005 (or later) Certification will be required on all helmets beginning January 1, 2011.  Also - from that date on all enclosed-cockpit vehicles - car and motorcycle streamliners - will require SA-rated helmets."

But if your going to buy a new helmet it makes sense to have snell 2005

Yes current rules are for 2000 Snell, If I were to buy a new helmet I would wait for the 2010 cert so it would be good for longer however I replace helmets every 3-5 years anyway.

Buzz,

Make sure that your leathers are 100% cow and are not perforated, Snell 2005 helmet.

Regarding the rest we can assist you in getting the rest done on the lake bed, I will be there on Thursday so look us up.

Attached is a picture of the truck and trailer, it will look "tan" and not White I am sure.

Thanks John,

The leathers are good to go and the helmet is Snell cert 2005. NHRA made me stop wearing my open face helmet at the end of the last season , so I had to get a new one!!
About the only thing I'm a little worried about is the steering stops and being within the 15 degrees.  I think (I hope) I got everything else covered.
I'll look you up when I get there and say HI. I should be getting there Friday around 2:00 pm!!

Buzz, they dont have a protractor in inspection. They just check to make sure the steering is seriously limited. :-D If it takes less than a city block to turn around it is probably not enough. Just kidding, sort of.

As one of the inspector I can let you know what is needed however as Fred says if the steering is limited to a close "guesstimate" then I am sure you will be fine.

Hey, thanks for pointing out that I was wrong.  Indeed -- my '09 rulebook says that the Snell 2005 sticker will be required in '11, not '10.  Great -- don't HAVE to get new helmets this winter after all.

Just a couple of shots of the bike ready for this weekend.  It's setting in the warehouse at work (California)...
All of my co-workers think I'm nuts  :-D

What's the matter with them?  What's nuts about this bike -- looks like a fine ride to me.  Wish I'd be there in person to see and hear you run it.  Best wishes -- and thanks for letting us watch you build it.
