That would be my backyard, water at the Landing aint nuthin!  Might get your tires wet going out and coming back, but the important part is out where the racing is done!  I figure you guys can get waterwings for that first part, after that...you are on your own!   Things are gonna get better, just you wait and see!!  :-D

Thanks for the great photos, Jon.  This sent from my cell modem.  We'll continue to monitor the situation.

Back from lunch at the Truckstop.  It's raining gently right now -- and there is no official decision on whther or not the event will be cancelled or postponed.  We're going to drive out to the pit area right now to see what's new out there.  It looks about like it did when we took the photos an hour or two ago -- although some folks say the salt is already soaking up the water.

Okay, we're out at the pits.  It isn't under water here -- that's the good news.  I don't see standing water anyplace within sight.  But -- it's kinda windy and blustery and visibility isn't all that good, so I can't see more than amile or so.  No, wait a minnit -- I put on my glasses and can see Floating Mountain.  There's either water standing on the salt off in that direction -- or the sunshine is glaring off and looking like a mirage.  Take it for what you will, hey?

Wind is stiff -- about 15 or so from the left -- from the mountains, across the course.

The forecast says nasty storms later tonight -- up to 70 mph winds and 2" hail.  "Martha, tie down the EZ UP real good!"

Still waiting for Jim Burkdoll to comment on the event.  You hope, we hope, he hopes, we all hope.

Larry Volk is driving up and down and around on the course.  I don't know if he's checking on it -- or trying to dry it with multiple passes.

12.38 PM  Raining pretty hard right now here at the pits.  I see a puddle up ahead -- where there wasn't one when I posted that last update.  NWS still says severe storms in the area and the forecast.  We'll head back to Land's End.  The thunder is booming around out here.

Volk still driving around out there.

WE are at Land's End and just talked with Jim Burkdoll.  There's a crappy weather radar showing rain in every direction from here, so Jim says there's nothing to do but wait right now and see if things change for the better.  He'll call if there's any official notification.

Further deponent sayeth not.

Not much new.  No phone calls for USFRA officials -- that's the good news.  Still windy and drizzling here in West Wendover -- that's the not-so-good news.

The forecast hasn't changed.  Joe Ledford called for a weather update -- but called on Nancy's phone.  I'll post and see where he is right now.

Stay in touch.

AccuWeather.com, Weather.com and Weather.gov all show the rain heading off the salt flats to the north on the radar with Wendover still getting rain.

Keep your heads up, we had an inch of standing water on the track before our event. The wind and sun will make a big difference this week, after Tuesday the weather report is Sunny & 80 degrees for the next week. Good Luck

Good attitude, Eric.  The NWS isn't quite as optimistic as the commercial weather sites, but whatever will be -- will be.  It's still thunder and lightning and rain here -- but you're right about how fast the conditions can improve.  The forecast I'm seeing says the weather will improve quitea bit by Wednesday and be warm and dry by Thursday.

The storm total radar loop thinks the course got between 0.3 and 0.5 inches of rainfall, so far.
Keeping fingers crossed the big stuff misses the salt this evening.

With good wind and warm weather that much water can be gone pretty quickly, especially with dry salt to suck some of it up.

70 mph winds are not nice for sleeping in the motorhome, but they sure come in handy to dry the salt and move that water!!  Don't give up yet!!  Nancy can still get that 205!!

One of our crew is in the air at this time and the rest are headed out rain or shine tomorrow morning so we'll be in Wendover by 1pm.

I really don't care when we run Wednesday, Thursday, Friday or Saturday as long as everyone gets a few passes.
