Spud Carver on a 1350 Harley just ran 06 and change on a 167 NHRS record.  Take that for what you will.

Slim,
What does 06 and change mean? 206 mph on a 1350? If that is what it means are you sure of your numbers. Don't think a 1350 pushrod has ever went close to that kind of speed.

We're watching cars, trucks, and bikes -- that's how it's going.

The Mormon Missile just qualified at 315 in the last mile.  His FIA record is just a titch higher, but the Bville record was 305, so he's going to impound.

Jon Amo ran a 172 on his first run of the week, on his 182 record.  He was back in the pits a couple of minutes ago -- but now he's not in sight.  Miught have gone back to the line.

The lines are moving in goofy fashion, I hear.  At the drivers meeting we were told to have the short course vehicles in the left line, long course in the right line, and the starters would run a long course vehicle first, with a short course run starting as soon as the long course vehicle was past the five.  That's what we were told to do -- but the folks in the short course line say the long course l;ine is moving way faster -- that some of them are still only part way through the line when they're passed by someone back in the long course line after making his first run -- going back for number two.  Sound like every race you've ever been to, right?  "The other line is moving faster than my line!"

The Hoffman/Markely RMR just ran -- shooting ducks at the 1, by the pits, but running 209.1 in the first mile - and since it was an open record, he's qualified it.

What does "06 and change" mean?  It means I typed a typo -- should have been 96 and change.  Sorry.

Bob Brissette's lakester looks so much like Treit's 678 Lakester that I figured Marlo got salt fever, pulled it out of the hanger and was making a pass.

Flash back from 10 years ago..

Racers, be patient. A great run on Saturday is worth 4 runs in the slush on Thursday.

Roger that.  Must I put two-digit speeds into a three-digit format (i.e. "He ran 096 mph")?  Seriously -- Ninety-six miles per hour.

Especially when the report was "zero six", which would be REALLY slow.

The Kawasaki 350cc Triple sidecar just ran a 92 - and qualified on the open record.  Nice looking bike -- beautiful work on the custom pipes.  The team uses a Harley sidecar outfit touring bike for support -- and he just went past the pits at a speed that loked only a little bit faster than the race bike.  Nah, couldn't be -- 25 mph past the pits.  Everyone knows that.  Too bad we don't have Glen here to enforce that limit.

LV -- you're about the only folks that haven't seen Nancy in a photo.  Must be a dozen or more times today already she's been asked to be in a picture -- "Ma'am, would it be okay if I took your photo -- wearing my hat?" -- was what one of them said.  I'll take a photo for you and post it -- along with some race vehicle photos, too.

You're on your own for a little while -- I'm going to impound to see who's there.  I know that I saw Roy Creel's car there.

The #283 Cadillac just ran a 257 -- qualified.

I've been wandering hither and yon, waiting for the 130 course to come to life...I finally decided to come back to around the 1 mile mark and get some "speed" shots and a coupla glamor shots.

First is the Mormon Missile, driven by Curtis Halvorsen.  The owner, Lynn Goodfellow was burned pretty severely in last year's Shootout...but he's back here with the car.  My hat's off to him.

Next is the 485 RWS A/FS liner...no info on that run.

A brilliant yellow Model A coupe that has the noisiest gear drive I've heard in a long time.

And a kool orange 40 Ford pickup with a green flame job.  Doesn't sound too appealing but it really looks nice.

SSS (aka JON) and Nancy;

I haven't seen any pics of that "Beautiful Bride Of Yours"??? You can't hide her from all of us who enjoy "Beauty"!!!

Just turned on the CB, but can't seem to pick up anything from the Salt Flats here in Lovelock.

NOW, if you could make that happen all over the country, that would be something for all to enjoy. Hummmmmmmmmmmmmmmm?????????????

Here's alist of who's imn impound as of right now and their speeds.  The only one I don't have a name for is the Buell turbo -- #1015, who just arrived, with a 142 1/2 (on an open record).

Sam Dakin on the turbo 1350 Altered Harley ran 95.645 -- I don't know the previous number.

John Stege on the 'Busa kneeler sidecar outfit with a 213.894 on his own 208 from lst year.

Broken Parts/Spencer Racing at 181.028 (with 8# boost -- turning it up to 14# for tomorrow's return run.

Roy Creel in impound with the #53 -- 117.961 mph.

George Poteet's Blowfish at 290.022 -- said the course was wet but he didn't have any lack of traction.  That's good to hear.

The Jaguar/Buick Straight8 (a/k/a Salt Cat) qualified with a 176.611.

Dan Warner will be giving me the vehciels and speeds in impound -- so I'll be able to give those resuklts daily.
