During Speedweek, one of the racers came to me and said, "I finally found something more beautiful than the sunrises on the salt............The sunrises on the salt from impound!"  Can't argue with that!

Thanks for all the work you, Nancy, and Ray are doing for us!

Willie,

Kent told me to tell you that you are wrong.  :-D

Sams runs a single ZX-11 engine about 1080cc's

Ack's has two 1299cc Hayabusa engines

Denis's bike runs a single completely designed custom one off engine and also is under three liters placing Ack and Denis in the same class.

It's helping my boring day at work go by and I'm not a MC type guy. Thank Jon, this is great.

WOW.. another phenomenal run. Good going Sam, Terry and crew, that's one single little baby motor in that bad boy. Appears the front wheel did well.

Shane... I hit print on something a minute ago so this is my job right now, (ok, that and the boss ain't here) so  :-P

Freud, I have to vote for your photo if it were a contest. Ray's photo may be the best for the non racing public... but after being down the salt, the chance to see (and to have a vehicle fast enough for) the 8 mile marker in my sights... well that's a dream your picture is made of!

Jon, I can't believe this isn't the shootout...

Yeah,  here's Bub information.  I'll post this now and give you photos in a little while.

Chris said that the troubles started at the end of the run.  He popped the pilot chute out and was slowing okay.  Doesn't deploy the main 'til the bike slows, and when it was slow enough -- the controls were dead.  He slowed with the pilot 'til about 60 mph, trying to shift down to slow down -- but the trans doesn't let him get away with it.  Finally got down to about 60, put down the skids, and leaned over onto the right skid and slowed.  He stood on the brakes -- but not 'til the bike was slow enough that the brakes wouldn't overheat.

Once stopped the fire crew was there and sprayed powder.  Chris did not actuate the on-board system, but there was a fire in the engine area.  Apparently there was an oil leak (first gues, investigation going on, I've got a few photos) that sprayed oil (again - my gues from overhearing) and that caught fire in the engine area.

The fire did not damage the chute -- the fire dameged the controls so the chute couldn't be deployed.

Post now and keep typing and I'll give you some photos.  Crappy out of focus -- the camera is cranky this morning.  Some are good -- I'll try to get better ones.  The close up of the turbo shows the line that is suspected of having failed.
