Post-Speedweek-Syndrome, or PSS
« on: August 20, 2009, 02:40:08 PM »
This is worse than the sugar loss when an energy drink wears off.  No Salt, no racing, only cleaning bikes and yardwork that's gotten away while I was gone racing.

blahhhhhhhhhhhhh

On the plus side - all automotive tasks seem so easy.  What?  You need an alternator changed on a transverse engine with A/C, Power Steering, etc?  no problem...it's not even 120 degrees yet and I don't have to race in 5 minutes...no problem...go ahead and leave the engine running, no biggie.

What?  You need your motorcycle carb rebuilt tonight so you can go riding at 5am?  No problem...I don't even have any cuts with salt and brake cleaner in them from rebuilding a wheel in the dirt..oh and I don't have to race in five minutes...and I'm not bordering on heatstroke from dehydration...sheesh this stuff is cake.

I miss the Salt and I miss the people we left on the Salt.

:-D V8Pinto....  Hey if ya need to make a quick run up to the Salt again for a fix just give me a call,,,I'll meet ya half way there!    Or we could just snort the residue on my floor mats in the Toy Truck!   Not as much fun as being there!    I know what ya mean Shane.   Gonna have to go to Elmo next month just to get a "Salt people" fix I guess.      Crow.

Fred:  Different bike, or whatcha gonna alter?  Look for us to be in Production 1650 again -- looking for that elusive couple of mph for Nancy.  We'll see you there.

Oh, yeah -- are you going to Luckenbach while we're in that town?  We'll arrive there Thursday, the 10, and depart Sunday before noon.  Go to www.mikeblakely.com and scroll down for the "Fandango".  Stainless II says he'll be there -- something about seeing more on Nancy's tattoos.

Jon, I will have an extended tail to get into altered, also lots of mods not allowable in Production. :-D
I plant to make it to Lukenbach if we are not in a last minute thrash on the bike.

No -- I barely know who those folks are, and what I do know is only from reading the names in the news magazines -- in which they don't often appear.  I enjoy reading westerns, and have discovered the author Mike Blakely during the past few months.  He's an author/musician, and founded his "Fandango" seven years ago.  It's a get-together of musicians he invites, and there are also things like an ice cream churn-off and, of course, a book signing, and stuff like that.  We are certainly NOT fans of country & western music.  I emailed Mike about the music and he said that there's not much relation between "Nashville" C & W and the music we'll hear in Luckenbach - so we'll give it a try.  And it's only about 1428 miles from Wendover, so we will make use of the time between Bub's and Wos.  What's another 2,900 miles to us - at this point. . .?

I received this notice about a "found" laptop.  If it sounds like someone has scored what you lost -- get in touch with me and I'll work with you to retrieve your stuff.

" I just had a call from someone.  His parents found a laptop on the access
road during speed week.  It evidently still boots.  He is posting on
Craigslist and I told him to check on landracing.com and of course with SCTA.
However if one if you lost a lap top email me and I will forward you his phone
number off list.  No point in putting it out to every body.
thanks"

I'll kekep the name and email of the person who sent it to me - quiet, to prevent the scambots from getting the addy and having a heyday with it.  I hope this helps you find your lost 'pooter.

Speaking of lost and found if anyone found two SD memory chips for a camera, (should be in a zip lock bag) let me know.
I am missing two SD memory cards for the photo's I shot on the 11th at speed week.

Last time I remember fiddling with them was in the starting line area.

I'd hoped they had found their way to some obscure crack in a car seat or something but I have been through all my stuff and the car several times no joy.
If put in a card reader they will identify as a Nikon camera file with both jpg and NEF file types.

Found Acer Laptop Outside Windover, UT (Bonneville Salt Flats)

Laptop and peripherals found after the SCTA event on 8/13/09.
It has unique decorations on its case, and a distinctive user profile.
If you can tell me that user profile and the decorations, then you may contact me back.
Laptop was found by my parents and is now with them in the Prescott, AZ area.
Willing to arrange return of laptop, but will only continue looking until 8/31/09, at which point it will be
considered lost for good and reimaged.
