I learned overnight that the Shoot Out website isn't up and running yet, but Zane tells me that he'll send a note about it to me as soon as it's ready to go up.

Keep waiting!

.......they want it bad........and it shows.......

..what really counts is that they want it bad enough
to do the work it takes..........

they are impressive......and you can bet your booty
they will have changes done and ready for shootout...!!!!!!!!!

to me Bonn. is one big test session most times......then at some point
a payoff.........being on the salt is only way to get ready....ya cant
usually come with it all figured out ahead of time........they did the needed
shakedown..........

From the Speed Demon website:

http://speeddemon.us/docs/Speed_Week_2009_RESULTS.pdf

.................One would think unbiased coverage might include the astoudning performance of the Costella Yacoucci Pappas & Stevens Flathead..........

Ron sent these photos today.  Wouldn't you like to be able to make a quarter-scale model of your racer?

Are those for public displays without trotting out the full sized car or for aero testing?

My eyes may be fooling me, but that last shot looks like a longer body than the 2 models pictured above??

In case you're wondering why this is part of an old thread -- it's because I figure we've got scads and scads of thread going, so why not use one that's titled just right anyway?  Not that having threads of discussion is in any way bad - we don't for instance, have to pay extra once we exceed a certain number or whatever - but if you want information on the Speed Demon -- look here.  I'll try to oput future posts about the car here, too.

With 2 Motors they might  have to go with a 4 wheel drive set up,as they are using up the drive line stuff now with the stout one's they have running one at a time.

Might loose the neddle nose shape too?

Owning the outright world record (wheel-driven/piston-engine)- using just a 'B' engine- I can't picture them thinking about more than one engine at this time. Especially with the "flexibility" of centrifugal blowers.

Comparing the old shape to the new one the length is only slightly longer. Not two engines worth.
The tail is longer and lower.
If you look at the top picture where the guy is working on it, the front model is longer, looking at the scoop to rear distance.
The last photo looks longer because of the monochromatic paint.
I would think that the four models are all different and heading to the wind tunnel.
Well, it used to be Los Angeles . . . 50 miles north of Fresno now.
Just remember . . . It isn't life or death.
It's bigger than life or death! It's RACING.

After reading the last few posts I can see how rumors get started.  :-o

SSS,

It seems as though you are now the official Press Secretary for the Speed Demon on LR.com, so what are we looking at in these photos you posted? Display models? Or?

Thanks,

Tom G.

Well, gee -- I hadn't thought of it that way, but if I'm to be a press secretary -- where are the huge benefits I should be getting?  Don't say it -- I get to live with Nancy, I know.  I don't mean to be the guy that puts up everything Speed Demon, even thought it looks like I've got the job by default.  My intent was/is to let you all see the workings and work on the car.  Ron Main sends these to me and I, in order, post them for all to see.

Gee, what ELSE can I ask for compensation? :-)
