Any word on John Rush from the accident at El Mirage. John was driving the XF/FS Flatliner.
Any news on what happened? I would assume because he had a time that it happened after the timing lights at 182 mph.

The chute came lose from the car going threw the lights, shortly after that
the liner turned, dug in ,and crashed violently.
No official word on John has come to me yet and I haven`t called anybody in the know yet, figured anybody involved would be busy today.
Hope he is ok.

I had lunch with Roy Creel yesterday. Looks like he lost the parachute, grabbed a handful of brake and locked the wheels, Slewing sideways, the car dug in and pencil rolled several times. The cage did not break off but did bend sideways. Prelim med report is some sort of spinal damage and a concusion.

Just found this on SCTA website

Land Speed Racer, John Rush, of the Milers is still hospitalized but beginning to recover.  He has regained consciousness, recognizes friends and moves his limbs.  John suffered serious injuries as a result of a roll-over accident at the July El Mirage meet.  The El Mirage Ladies Auxiliary continues to assist John and his family.

The entire Association wishes John a speedy recovery.
