Speed Team Doo (STD) out of Kansas City, Topeka and Seattle hope to field four bikes.  We are long on riders and short on pit crew this year but we are geared for fun.

I just had my cameras cleaned and calibrated, reservations have been made, and I am ready. I will be making another yearbook for 2009 and once again a portion of the proceeds will be donated to Save the Salt. People are still buying the 2008 yearboook and you can too, I will list the link below, so you can bring them this year to collect your autographs from last years participants.
I look forward to seeing all on the Salt.

Yes, indeed, we hear the R-a-W closed a few months ago.  I don't remember ther est of the rental discussion -- that is, who the alternate acceptable rental company might be.  If nothing else -- post on here and see if you can find someone that'll be willing to give you a ride to and from the metro Wendover area.  No doubt there's a way to rent without having to pay a huge "no-salt" deposit -- I just don't remember what it is.

Tell em you're going to Cedar City!! Or Bear Lake on the Utah/Idaho border.  The mileage would be close to right and they wouldn't have to drive on the salt, we have "some" parking available during the day at Land's End and have no problem bumming a ride for you....heck, even the spectators will give you a ride!!  Puts a "special" stamp on their foreheads and a memory to cherish!!

We used Enterprise last year ... showed up at the airport with gym bags and helmets ... told them we were going to Miller Motorsports Park (true) ... for the week (false) ... to race gokarts and a friends car (kinda, sorta truish).

Fortunately the salt was dry and there was no residue.

It looks like we will be there.  This will be Werner's first salt adventure and his Honda is sort of almost ready.  My triumph is done and I am on my pre-race diet.  It starts two weeks before we leave and I aim to lose 50 pounds.  One less beer and slice of pizza a day should be enough.  And low-fat sour cream on the burritos.

There is some good riding at speedweek.  The over 250 mph speed on the old Kawaski 1000 is amazing.  I will be real happy to go half that fast!

We are leaving tomorrow. Hopefully we will get there.  We have a purple Toyota truck, a Honda 150 dirt bike converted to a modified partial streamliner, and a Triumph that looks and handles like the Titanic.  My son's Team Go Dog, Go shirt says "Werner" and mine says "Wobbly."  My youngest daughter, Gretchen, will be there too.  Come over and say hello.
