modified mid/mini pickup class
« on: March 15, 2009, 04:55:42 PM »
What is the reasoning behind the engines being restricted to C and smaller? Please pardon my inexperience if this has been covered.

TIA, Corey

Short wheelbase and 1500 HP is a bad mix. Plus engine families as mentioned.

What if a modified mini p.u. showed up with a B class small block in it? Would it have to run for time only?

It would probably be great fun to show up with a 427ci engine in a VW Rabbit p'up.  :-D

Currently if you want to run over "C" displacement in a minitruck, you will need to go diesel.  You can run over 1200ci if you so desire, (and can find a good place to sit on top of the engine), since there is no requirement that it be an automotive-based powerplant.  The only restriction is that it is representative of what is sold at dealerships as diesel pickups.  Ship engines in minitrucks are usually in the very back of the dealer lots, so you need to look carefully.

What I was thinking of was a Dodge Dakota that came with a v8 that could easily be bored and stroked to fit in the B engine class.

Look at the end of the class write up. If the engine class is not listed there is no class available. There was a J class Mod Sports that ran at Speedweek, no J engine class and the body could not be changed back to stock so it was a complete waste of resources and time/effort.

How about AA/FMMP -- is it available, too?

We could add a classic break and blown, AA/CBFMMP - whoops, I don't think the truck is long enough for all those letters.
