Boy, that would a heck of alot cheaper, and you don't have to clean up the car afterwards!

But, uh, isn't the idea to build something and go race it?

Q:  "Why would you ever pay a woman for sex???"

A:  "You don't pay them for sex, you pay them so they leave afterwards!"

Then there's the guy that claimed he was "bisexual".  That is -- when he wanted any he'd have to buy it.

As for rent-a-ride -- well, I don't think that's in the true spirit of land speed racing, although I also don't think it's prohibited.  More common is the car's/bike's owner offering a ride to a crew member or someone that's longed for such a ride -- and has earned it through work or support or something.

JH, you gonna be at the Reunion this weekend?  Nancy and I look forward to seeing you and your girlfriend again.  For those that don't remember what he looks like:

Perhaps if it's set up like a driving school, it's not that bad of an idea.

I've attended a few driving schools, and I learned quite a bit, and they helped me go faster.

So more like a Sex Therapist?

My dad did the Skip Barber thing about 12 years ago - short course over a weekend.  It was a Christmas gift from me and my sisters.  They threw him behind the wheel of a Viper, and he STILL talks about it today.  It's an opportunity that he would have never afforded himself.

This is an interesting way for an established team to continue in this sport in uncertain financial times.

Sodium tourism. :-)

I wish them luck.

The most fun I've ever had in a car (including back seat escapades) was the Bondurant school in AZ.  It took months to wipe the grin off my face.

I took my Dad to California Speedway and we did the Richard Petty driving experience. Had a blast! Dad went faster than I did. I thought that was cool. The only guy I don't mind losing to.

Continuing the off-topic thread --

I've attended five motorcycle driving schools - one at Grattan Raceway near Grand Rapids, Michigan, and the other four at Road America near Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin.  I can't speak highly enough of how much can be learned at a school.  I still use things I learnt on the track -- in my everyday driving...things I learnt on a sort bike -- on my Gold Wing.  If you ever can find any time and the $500 or so it takes for one of the schools (I don't know how much the car schools cost) -- by all means, take the class.  Not only do you learn -- but it's a fun day, on a real race track, with everybody trying to help you learn.

Check out the driving school at the Miller Motorsports Park, roughly 95 miles east of Bonneville near Tooele, UT.  It's a new track, first class setup and they have the longest road course in the U S.  They have Mustangs that are built for the school and their faster cars will give you a chance to drive factory built cars that participate in races around the country in their own class.  Kill two birds with one stone, go to the MMP school while you are at Bonneville this year.  Even riding around the course with one of their instructors is a blast.
