Engine seal
« on: December 04, 2008, 07:38:50 PM »
I have the busa motor out of the bike and was thinking this would be a good time to drill holes for the engine seal wire.  Where are most of you guys doing it on the Busa motor?  Do I need to be able to wire head to cylinders to case, or just head to cylinders or....
If you have a pic that would be cool too.

Thanks, Bill

Bill,

Drill the cylinder and the top case (a hole will have to be drilled very easy on the right side) don't go to the lower case so you can change a transmission if needed.

If you need anything or more info let me know.

Thanks John, I didn't know if the head needed to be done also.  I'll do cylinders to top case.

P.S.    Not like I'll qualify for a record anyhow.

All engines are sealed with wire. I will no longer accept nail polish.

DW,

On a v twin do you want both heads wired or just one. I've heard different opinions so I wanted to ask the man.

Thanks, Larry

On a v twin wire the cylinders together at the bottom. Then you can pull the heads without breaking the seals.

Kinda defeats the purpose of an engine seal. One one cylinder needs to be wired. Motorcycle tech may have a different plan. I let them run their side of the shop to a large extent.
