Never been to El Mirage

How would you rate the traction at El Mirage compared to Bonneville, for high powered cars? (Both from an acceleration standpoint, and "down course.")

Like Kent says..it can be good one meet (and it already happened this year ) and it can be bad to fair..

Fastest car is 312 mph
Fastest bike is 240 mph

Like Bonneville we rely on mother nature to provide the good dirt and for the many SCTA volunteers to lay out a good course..

If you have a slower vehicle then the dirt if not in 100% good condition will not affect you nearly as bad as a 200 mph+ vehicle.

During my second run I was faster than my timed run until we went through a "rough" patch and ended up going through the lights 12 mph slower than earlier in the run.

What high powered car do you have or plan to race/build?

Good luck either way.

Traction is usually better at El Mirage, but it can get silty and become a little slippery.

Where you having traction problems your first run on Sunday?  I tried to video it but I don't think I got you in it all :(

Traction was better earlier in the year than it was Sunday however after watching the 249 mph roadster I think Alan would have gone even faster had he run much earlier in the morning.

I would agree the earlier the better.

The patrol at the 4 marker (about the 1/4 mile) was mentioning all day that the area in front of him was causing a lot of traction problems.
Well, it used to be Los Angeles . . . 50 miles north of Fresno now.
Just remember . . . It isn't life or death.
It's bigger than life or death! It's RACING.

Newbie opinion:

Bonneville has a bit more traction.  I can get up to speed in less distance on the salt.

I agree with da NQQb.

Most cases the salt has better traction..ever see rubber on the dirt from a push truck?  I have at Bonneville
