Wow, such a small technicality that you overlooked something far more important. Steel sheething over the fuel lines in the path of the flywheel.
Mike mentioned this to you at the top of page 6. Didn't think it needed to mentioned again.
I am hoping SCTA will let me add another 1/4" to my scattershield and extend it out. With this car already previously configured, there was not really a choice.
If it's on the bellhousing it'll be considered part of the bellhousing. The rule specifically says additional shielding regardless of the presence of a scatter shield. Nothing says you have to feed the hose through the tubing. Just find a large piece of thick wall tubing, make a cut along the length of the tubing (making a "c" if you viewed the cross section), and put the 3 or 4 hoses inside the tubing. Viola, there's your shield. It only needs to be about a foot long. You're just protecting the tubing in the rotational plane of the flywheel.
I will dig through my 2006 rule book and find that rule. I don't remember it, but may have overlooked it as I know my stuff is NHRA legal and not a "rubber" hose.
Two problems: 1) your rule book is 3 years out of date; 2) the SCTA is not the NHRA.
Also, I don't suggest trying to petition the SCTA on rules that might seem difficult meet. The SCTA has it's rules and they should be followed. It's really for your best protection. One interesting aspect of the SCTA is that no one ever tells you what kind of car to build. That was your choice. You build the car to the rules and should not build the rules to the car. I really can't imagine that adding an additional lug to each hub is an impossible task.
