I would suspect that MKM's Insurance carrier put the kaibosh on the motorcycles.  I'm sure they would have let them do it -  but would have hung a hefty priced rider onto the policy!

don't know for sure -  but working around the fringes of organizing these things -  that seems to be the most likely explanation!  On the otherhand - the Military might be looking at the problems associated with a what if moment -  Bike rider killed on runway at nellis -  would not play out very well -  not only in the press -  but also in Washington -  so maybe it's a combination of both  I don't know.

The most likely explanation though - is that there are No LSRE motorcycle riders who have clean enough records to be granted access to the base!   I bet thats it -  a bunch of fringe hooligans looking for another place to sniff nitro- methane !  Yah -  thats the ticket!

Hey john,
This event catered to a different crowd -  the Las Vegas -  drag racers   and the open road race group.  I don't know if any LSR people were there!  If they were -  I suspect we will eventually hear about it!

Doesn't look like much of an event.  They enter the cars under an index speed.  Unlimited being over 200mph, with different brackets below.  It doesn't look like there are any type of records that can be set?  Here's a link to the speeds.

From the chat on the open road racing forum the number of entrants was just the 23 cars,  The motorcycles were turned away by the Military according to MKM; it was not their choice at short notice.

The classification of cars accords with their open road racing methods, which their people are comfortable with.  The 'Tech Speed' is either a governing body elected speed for a class (because of vehicle safety features etc) or could be an elected speed if otherwise unlimited.  Go over your tech speed through a speed trap on the open road and your run does not remain on the timesheets.  The open road is won by the person getting closest to the target average speed - some get it to the second decimal place of mile per hour.

There is a 200 mph club in open road racing events as they have speed traps on the straights.

If there is LSR suupport in the Vegas area I am sure MKM would be open to catering for 'our' form of racing too, if he gets an event back to this base.  Its just that he has a strong loyal following of entrants from the world they cater for in mid and north Nevada events.  He is approachable and the address for the office (staffed by Linda) is on the website.
