Thanks Debbie.

I paid my entry fee for two riders and two classes.  I received from Delvene four numbers.  785 was Don Angel's side car number.  2785 was Hartmut Weidelich's side car number.  ALL RUNS MADE DURING THE 2008 BUB MEET WERE MADE WITH THE SIDE CAR ATTACHED.

The side car WAS NEVER REMOVED to make a solo run.  The numbers without the side car for solo runs, given me by Delvene were 1785 for Don Angel, and 3785 for Hartmut Weidelich.  ALL RUNS MADE DURING THE 2008 BUB MEET BY LAMBKY'S LINER/BLACK LIGHTNING WERE MADE WITH THE SIDE CAR ATTACHED.

Looks like you have a phone call to make!  :|

I know how disappointing it is to work hard and have the paperwork not right. (I guess that's why I'm such a nerd & always end up helping with this stuff!)

I hope Bub can make it right for you & John Renwick both.
Good luck & let us know how it works out for both of you!

Debbie

PS: Remember, you catch more bees with honey! ;) Most of the paper pushers are overworked, underpaid and respond a lot better to people being nice & understanding!  :-)

Tom Mellor's bike is a 750 Triumph triple and yes it has pushrods.  Its also very slippery.  Heres a link to some photos.  Goes to prove you don't need one of those spinny, whirly things to go fast.

Awesome!!!! Thanks for the link! Excellent job there with that speed!
(I can just feel Todd pulling out the rulebook to check that fairing! LOL )

Don't bother.  Its been done already.  The back end is dead illegal.
Get off the stove Grandad.  You're too old to be riding the range.

Definately illegal for SCTA.

The way I read the rules it's not far out for AMA. They only require 180 deg of rear tire visable. They have no rule about past the rear axel as SCTA does. So, from what I can tell from the pics he needs to trim the area in the front section of the rear tire. Visability might be an issue also but I can't tell without a rider.

Or am I missing something.

Larry

Thanks for the smileys Deb...

Yeah, that's what I'm saying. It's close but not quite from what I can tell from the pics. To me it looks like the front part of the rear tire is covered by the fairing. Where the tail section cuts a parallel line to the ground at the rear axel needs to continue forward maybe another 6" to completely expose 180 deg of the rear tire.

Whadaya think? Agree or dissagree. Or am I still missing sumpin.

Larry

Willie, I saw that section too and figured it was for removing the rear tire but it might make it legal for SCTA also...

That 750's body/frame is certainly beyond any question of class legality (and it would be nice to know what it would do naked of course)... but I'm more interested in the legality of it's motor is in a pushrod class (be it AMA/FIM, SCTA, etc).

Any idea what the length of it's stroke and it's pushrods are (or what the cam to deck hieght relation is)?

Not trying to take anything away from anyone, that's an awesome speed for that bike no matter what the setup is... just trying to learn something here.

I am not certain that Motorcycle Streamliners count, but would the Cliff Gullett-Jack Costella 7070 streamliner which ran a last mile at 237.945 with 497 cc in the 500 cc class qualify for the MPH/CC prize with an average of 4.7589 if 500 cc and 4.7876 if 497 cc.
I know that the rules call for the unit to be impounded, and would ask that BUB consider the circumstance of the accident in any decision regarding this matter.
Obviously we are hoping for ratification of the speeds Cliff ran on his two runs the day of his accident.
As has been posted, Cliff's memorial is Saturday, and we hope you will keep Leanne, Casey and Nicole in your prayers.

I know that Cliff wishes you all GODSPEED, and as I used to say to him each time he left the dealership for the salt - GO FAST! BE SAFE! I wish the same for all of you.

I thinking legal for SCTA.  Can't say about BUB, AMA, FIM.  Maybe they aren't as fussy.  Regardless is is one slippery sob and the speed is just plain incredible!

Hi Curt,
The decimal seems to have been misplaced there and the 7070 bike's run actually comes out to about .48 mph per cc (240mph divided by 500cc - nom.). I am very certain that the liners count and that is why I mentioned the Buddfab liner at 2.8mph per cc (140mph divided by 50cc - nom.). Both outstandfing feats for sure, but the very little cc bikes will always win a battle of this type as the math is in their favor from the get go just as it is for the liners themselves.

I was under the assumption that Cliff's record had been certified and granted, is this so?

Thanks for posting and letting us know about the memorial arrangements, and for sharing some of Cliff with us when you can.
Our thoughts are with the family and each of you that were close to him... and we will certainly have Cliff in our thoughts this saturday as well.

Curt,

I did the teardown on behalf of Cliff, the family and Jack C as well, Cliff will be awarded the AMA record and pending ratification he will receive the FIM record once the paperwork is taken care of in Geneva.

RIP Cliff you rocked and helped make Bonneville the greatest place on earth..

I fully expect Casey to start racing in the next 6+ years..he has been bit as well by the salt bugs..

Deb, you have carried your Maxton Volunteer skills to BUB with the same efficiency that you demonstrate at Maxton.

I am so happy that we met on the Salt. It is inevitable that you will have a very successful career as a Salt racer.

You deserve it and Todd will be there to support you in all ways.

Folks, she's little but mighty.
