Here is a few, to get the ball rolling, that would help a newcomer listining in.
•(Crunchies): pressure ridges from the salt drying, they crunch when you walk on them, also rattles your fillings loose if in them when turning off the course.
•(Back door): The 138’ timing trap at the end of the 5th mile, Invalid for records but where you get the big numbers.
•(¼ time): My personal favorite as it is quite competitive between those that drive our car. It is the first quarter mile speed of the first measured mile, Once again not valid for a record.
•(1st, 2nd, 3rd mile speeds): Actually the average speed of the 3rd, 4th, and 5th mile respectively. But these are the miles that can be used to qualify on a record.
•(Floating Mountain): a small mountain standing by itself in the salt that appears to be floating because of mirage. Used as a landmark by the racers.
That's all I gots time for, for now
