Water Tank Sizing question
« on: April 18, 2005, 06:17:00 PM »
I am putting a water tank in my car and am going through the sizing process and want to get a reality check with people who have already done it.

I will be on the long course and putting down a max of 500 WHP. 200 MPH +/- top speed.

If you care to share, what size tank do you use, whats the temp rise you see and how long are you at WOT?

 Thanks

Are you running gas or alcohol?

A 16 gal. tank worked fine with my 550 HP SB engines. It's currently still working just fine with a 850 HP BB. Both are on gas.

I ran a 33 gallon tank in the nose of my liner. Partly for weight up front and obviously for cooling. We ran a 360 on methanol with plenty of cooling. I ran a thermostat so I could warm the engine up without heating the water tank.

We run about a 28 gal tank over the rear end (for ballast also). We just let the water free flow when we run alky and have no temp problems. We do however put an in-line electric pump on to pump water when we run gas.
Records or parts, I didn't come all this way not to break something.
