Don - the car you mean is the first streamliner which Tom Burkland built.

A while he runs with a yellow as base color, on the bottom was two orange strip and the top something like purple. The number was 41 and runs in K/GS class - later Zimmermann used the car and changed the base color into red with a checkered flag on and a splashed Duck on the nose, was sponsored by Jaz

In George D. Lepp book "Bonneville Salt Flats" from 1988 is a good picture from the Snoopy version - you can find this book is in the most library.

I believe that Zimmerman bought the whole package, truck trailer car and all from Jack Harris. He and his son Brett both got into the two club with that car. That was where the red white and checkerboard paint job came from. I think Harris called it the mountain raider.

The K/GS record is by the Burkdoll streamliner,

but Mays run the car in J/GS - the name was to this time Montana Magic.

Zimmermann set his record in K/BGS - the car was called to this time Jaz Production Special

Does anyone know the present status on the car?

When Brett Harris got into the 2 Club in the car he made all his licensing runs and record runs in one day.  Their push truck had the back up engine sitting in a rack, on top of the truck . . . in the snowmobile they raced.  That was the first successful turbocharged racing snowmobile.

Brett and Jack have both set top time and low E. T. records in their front engined nostalgia dragsters.  This year Jack has also been running a Pontiac Firebird, nostalgia funny car.  Their team is "The Sheriff and his Posse".
Watch for them when they run again at Bakersfield this fall.

Not the same cars.
The Burkdoll's have a little liner they ran back in the late 70's and into the 80's that Jim's dad built..  The one in Sums photo ran larger engines and was running a Chev V8 when it crashed three or four years ago, destroying the car.  I believe they put three family members into the 2 Club in the car.
The Peanuts characters car was always started with a rope . . . a pull starter like a lawnmower.

Please, don't confuse yourself.

This Burkdoll car holds currently the K/GS record. This car was destroyed when Bo Burkdoll rolled the car during the World of Speed in September 2004.

Don asked for a other car - the car he asked was the Tom/Gene Burkland built streamliner - Mays runs them originally and set a record in J/GS - before this streamliner runs in K/GS - and as I remember he ownes this record in K/GS too, before it was broken by the the Burkdoll Family. When the car runs in K/GS he used a 443 cc snowmobil engine and had this famous Snoopy Airplane window paintshop on.
Later Zimmermann used the car and run a K/BGS engine for a record which is still in the record list.

The records this streamliner set are - in J/GS 215 mph - in K/BGS 201.7 mph.

The Burkdoll record in K/GS is 202 mph.

So the record holder in K/GS is not the car Burkdoll ran in 2000? Does anyone have a picture of the old Birkdoll car?

The K GS record was set in the liner in the photo before the blue paint was added on the nose.  Jim had other drivers, a B Tally and S. Guthrie who also set small displacement records in the car when it was running motorcycle engines.  His wife Julie and  at least one of his sons also joined the 2 Club driving the same car.  They strengthened the frame and put a Chev V8 in it around 2000.
