Willie, under FIM rules the is no "normal" sidecar class or is there a streamliner class.......just a sidecar class..............However, there are displacement classes....250c.c......350c.c.....500c.c.
and so on........the sidecar World Record that was set in New Zealand a while back was for the 1000c.c. class at 170+mph. and at this time is the fastest "official FIM" sidecar.......Now for example Max and his Vincent liner with the sidecar attached will go for a open FIM record in 2000c.c. (I am assuming 1000c.c. per engine maybe Max can tell us the displacement of his iner).......Now AMA does have "normal" sidecar class and a streamliner class...................................
For 2008 I am (Bakker Motorsports) putting up $1600.00 price money for the sidecar class.....and it will be split between the "normal" sidecars.....
(like yours...mine...and Johns) and the streamliners. (like Max.....Craig....and John Renwick)  I hope this somewhat explains it.........

Bob,

What are the rules regarding as you called them "normal" sidecars...are you putting up 800 for streamliner and also 800 for non streamliner side cars?

bob i think i got it-- sidecar like i have (NO streamlining ) and your bike (kneeler) or max bike (streamliner) if they had the same size engine( and a sidecar ) would  run in the same class   willie buchta

you are putting up 800 dollars for the fastest streamline sidecar and 800 dollars to the fastest sidecar thats not a streamliner

john  1400 round trip -- 10 miles to the gallon --140 gallons @ 5  dollars a gallon ===less than 800

I expect my vote will not be wasted, I voted with both heart and mind.  We all know Bonneville, and anything can happen.  If you get everything working at the same time it pays off.  The last 20 years has been a labor of love for 2 of the contenders without snagging the "big one."  Is it their time....  :-o
We will know in a couple of months  :|

Ok. ....O.K.  I now have some more FIM sidecar class info.
Except, I don't really understand it..........if anyone reading this does understand it let me know!!!!!!!
FIM differentiates sidecar as following:
All sidecars are either Group B1 or B2.....the difference comes when one gets to the "Division"
My sidecar would be Div B (partially Streamlined)
Max's Vincent liner with sidecar would be Div. C
(streamlined) then the displacement......................
So I must stand somewhat corrected...........but I do know this... $800.00 to Div. B sidecars (normal)
$800.00 to Div. C (streamliner sidecars)
Boy, I got a headache now.......................................

Both the international bodies' rules, FIA and FIM, will do that to you.

Go for it,

Sumner, is right that at least the cost of fuel, hotels, food is somewhat offset by the price monies they pay at the BUB all M/C Trials...........
.........when is the last time you could make any money racing LSR???????
John, was it 2006 when you left the BUB Trials
with $10.000?............not a bad payday!!!!!..............

Go to the BUB site and look at the money that is being payed out for 2008......some of it by class sponsors....but most out of Denis Mannings pocket.........when you see him tell him THANKS.
Hopefully this year Denis will break even...........

Bob,

In 2005 I paid taxes on my $ 28,500.00 in winnings, cash sponsorship and money from Magazine ad's, I think Denis would have more money from his customers/Sponsors if he could get them more exposure after the fact.  I thank all of the people that either give us the opportunity to race, the volunteers, the sponsors or even the spectators that pay to come and watch..

I have limited money to spend this year racing as I have not worked in 4 months, I will be there however just to compete against my own record...that 3 others are also bucking for

Bob,

Are you going to run the Kawasaki rather than the Busa engine?
