I would suggest coming to speedweek as a spectator to take it all in. You will have so much to see, you won't have time for much else. Check out other cars and drivers. Then bring your car to the world finals. You will be so hooked after speedweek the finals will be like old times and you can concertrate on running the car. Do heed the warning of others though. You will be going through a ONE WAY PORTAL.  Once the Salt gets Ya.. NO turning back. It is like joining Men In Black (MIB) you will belong to a special club. People will not understand what or why you are going to a 104 Deg.F
Race in August. And we will have to Neuralize you (IF) you want out.
Hope to see you at Speed Week.

Thanks again for all the tips and info guys!

I will get a rule book and check it out, but I am thinking I might just try the 150 club at first, as it seems a little easyier to get the car  legal for.

As for as what do I want to run?  I have no idea.  Right now we just want to do it.  Not trying to go after any records or anything!  In fact I am afraid to see what the record is for the class the car would fit into.

Anyone know what class the car would go into, and the record for said class?

The car can meet a few different body classes, engine displacement, induction and fuel classes. This means that you can have 4 different records for every engine displacement class (for instance) H engine 1-1.5Kcc has blown gas, blown fuel, gas and fuel.
I would suggest getting a rulebook and doing some research to find what you feel is obtainable record and class you would like to compete in. Once you have found a class to run come up with a budget, account for everything and then double it....you will hopefully be in the ball park.

Here is a car like yours, check out all 17 pages of the build, good stuff.

Here is my guess, B/FALT or /GALT, your 427 makes it a B motor, it is an altered coupe due to your ducted air through the removed headlights.  F if you run alcohol, or G if you do gas.  Records in the07 book, F-235.6 and G-238.88, could be higher now.  Luckily you didn't mention a blower....  :-o

150 club would be a good, fun place to start your addiction...

I think the B/FAlt record is reasonable, but it's always easier said than done.

I don't deal with fuel myself, I'm more of a gas turbo charger guy.  :-D

Thanks.  The HEadlights are back in now.  It does have a cowl induction hood though.

Car is not blown.  Single 4 barrel carb.

Good thing it doesn't fit in the Classic category -- those old out-dated caveman technology records are 10 miles an hour higher.

Guess it wasn't the B records they were trying to protect...
