Tire recommendation for 150mph club
« on: January 01, 2008, 02:19:36 PM »
Does anyone have advice on tires for a street car running the 150mph club? I know narrower is better for the salt, but what about hard vs soft compound? Also are there tread patterns that would be better?

Any advise is appreciated!

Well, according to the 2007 rule book, for any established class or open record attempt between 150 and 200 mph, you can run a street tire with a VR or ZR rating, and you'll need to run tubes.  VR and ZR tires are almost always considered "performance tires", and therefore most of these tires are a lot wider than you would want to run for LSR.

I'm running into that problem myself, and have resigned myself to Goodyear LSR tires.
