The Splinter - A wooden supercar
This is the best build diary I've seen. You think YOU had a tough build.

Well, it used to be Los Angeles . . . 50 miles north of Fresno now.
Just remember . . . It isn't life or death.
It's bigger than life or death! It's RACING.

Great line, Stainless, I'm with you! All us metal fabricators should take a lesson.

We once had a Guy come into the Custom shop I was working in who had built a wooden chassied Trike (It Wasnt to the standard of these masterpieces though)

To make them street legal, don't they have to crash test a bunch of them?

Brings to mind a story told to me by my friend S-s-s-t-t-tuttering S-s-s-teve.  Tells better if you stutter, too.

Thirty years ago one summer in San Bernardino he restored a 48 Ford Woody.  Great craftsman.  Got all the panels lined up. wood all restored, the gaps just right, great paint, the whole 9 yards.  Just in time for his wedding day.  They motored up the coast on their honeymoon in Carmel and two days later he said they had to "C-c-c-rawl out the windows" as the Coastal weather made a shipping container out of his pride and joy.

Don't know if it's true, but after a few beers I like to hear it every year or so.
