I have a question, this car seems to have much wider tires that I am used to seeing as I am learning. Is there a reason? Maybe a dual purpose car?
Unlike others we like the 10 inch wide tires with times of 280 mph in the 21/4 AND 294 mph in the 1st timed mile at Bville with 2 more miles to go and on parts wash.
Only a few door slammers have gone that fast in the 2/14 and they have been blown fuel cars
Also 252 mph last May at El Mirage setting record 30 mph over old record.
I have seen cars on the dyno with the skinny tires spinning the tires when reaching 800 hp.
I also have experience with 6 in drag tires in 1957. My twin brother and I had a blown Olds Street roadster that had a top time of 121 mph at that time, 124 1n 1959.
Low gear was useless spinning tires like in neutral so started in 2nd gear, still spun tires for 60 ft or more resulting 1n ET of only 12.3 sec most of time.
At San Luis Obispo drags in 1959 I got sideways at over 120 mph.
we didn't have suspension knowledge in those days but added 150 lbs. in back and 16lbs air pressure to increase contact patch
Also, we have a 4 link suspension with soft shock settings, so that helps our times.
