If it is so bad maybe one of you would offer to take over the role of a full time inspector.
Although this is where the one that doesn't know he gets frustrated the easiest, normally steps up.
(And ohh yeah... don't forget to show up at EVERY meet so you can help assure that consistency you speak so highly of.)

Consistency being made number one by The Staff would be nice wouldn't it, Safety being made number one priority by the Competitor would be even better I'm sure, and Common Sense being the number one target by both would deem all other issues irrelevant I imagine<--(seriously, it's strictly an imagining thing). Too bad humans have to perform these high priced positions on both sides of the counter huh?
It's called racing so we can perform it at our venues, not perfecting so we can hypothesize about it in type.

And yet everyone wants to get thru tech quicker... hmmm?

Hmm - common sense by who's definition?

This is indeed the source of differing interpretations - perhaps modifying the manner in which we codified the rules would help: How about including the INTENT of the rule in addition to the verbiage that specifies what is/isn't allowed?

Perhaps when rule changes occur, publish an addendum that lets everyone know *WHY* the rule change occurred? This would help everyone, racers & inspectors alike, better understand what the rules were trying to accomplish, and eliminate much ambiguity in their interpretation. Then again - maybe not.

Can someone explain to me...........O.K. according to what I have been reading on this forum in the past...........Tech. inspectors check the bikes for safety items as to the rule-book........O.K.....they are not involved in checking that your bike is legal for the class that you entered in.........is this correct?
Then who does  the checking that the bike is legal for the class entered??

It's the owners responsibility to build the Bike or car for the class they want to run in. The inspectors will verify the legality of the class in the event of a record or a protest.

O.K. Glen (how are you doing???) then WHY have I, and others, been told  (for example)to cut the fairing because it does not (in the opinion of the Tech inspector) meet the rule for partial streamlining.  This has NOTHING do do with safety!!!!

BAk, now you know why I only time them, I don't want any part of being a MC inspector. it has to be very confusing trying to answer all of their rules. It was a lot easier when only roadsters ran. :-D

Bak; If an inspector tells you to cut something because it will not meet class requirements, he is doing you a favor. You don't want to run record and then be told the same thing in impound, do you? I would think in that instance I would thank the inspector.

If you don't want the help don't act on it. Ultimately, it is your responsibility. You will have to defend your position during record certification if you decide you want a record. If you are out just for fun that is your choice.

Not something I would be interested in.
