The best choice would be one of the advertisers in the rulebook.
They have LSR experience and can engineer a suitable assembly of the correct materials and design for your ride.
It's kinda like seat belts, you don't need them until you really need them.

Call "Stroud Safety" @ (405)632-2022. They are very good to work with, and will answer all your questions.

Last time I called there, I actually talked to "the man".

Good products that work well. Not that the others don't. I like their service.

:-D There are NO stupid questions. Someone out there may have the same question but just hasn't asked it yet. Please, ask any question that you might think of. There's a wealth of knowledge available on this site.

I have had great service from Diest. They are in the rule book.

Thats funny -  My experiences with Diest (both of em) was far from satisfactory -  "Tech/sales guys out to lunch - will call you back!"  I'm still waiting!  Website not working,  secretary answering phone who knew exactly nothing -  I finally gave up and spent my money with someone who was interested in customer service!

I've been trying get something going on purchasing a chute from Deist for my lakester but haven't had much luck. I've sent a drawing of the car with the weight, projected speed, Cp and Cg. Talked to the older Deist and was told how to locate the chute attachment position. That didn't seem to work for me. I'm going to try Stroud. I tried Deist first because he has been a major advertiser with the SCTA.

My experience is that Stroud is a less expensive and you get personalized service. Kind of like the old Avis ads about being second but trying harder.

A couple of years ago when in the Chute acquisition mode I called Diest (twice) to get a catalog. I received it about a month later, after I had the Stroud already installed.

I agree that we should support Companies that advertise in the various SCTA/BNI publications, but only to a certain point.

I always bring apples for Jim at every meet. Have had nothing but great luck and good service from him. Maybe it's like a preference for Chevy vs. Ford. What you like works. If you don't like it, it won't work.

The rule says "vehicles". How come the motorcycles don't have them?
Well, it used to be Los Angeles . . . 50 miles north of Fresno now.

Getting real, they really do have chutes for open bike riders.
They are a very compact and lay flat on the back.
It does not take a very large panel area to slow just the bod without the ride.
They are designed to deploy when the lanyard is pulled as the rider leaves the seat.
They reduce the bone breaking tumble and cause the wearer to slow more rapidly than a hot slide down the track.
They are designed to sit you on your butt, feet first, and keep your delicate back bone, head, neck, and other stuff, elevated from the surface about 15 deg.
They are also used successfully for fast open boats and skiers on both water and snow.
Falling is inevitable, safety is developed as a skill and requires attention also.
