Monte Carlo .........What class
« on: April 30, 2007, 11:16:55 PM »
What class would a 1984 SS Monte Carlo run in?
Also are the tires used at Bonneville the same tires that are run on the front of drag cars? If not what kind and where do they get them?

Thanks for the help

You will need to buy a rulebook, the car can be made to run in numerous classes. Check the front page of this website concerning the M/T tires used for LSR.

In the rule book there is a page about tires and the required speed ratings needed depending on the current class-displacement record you are wanting to run in. The MT tires are very expensive and rated @ up to almost 600mph. Considering you are thinking about a 84 MC and likely not anywhere close to those speeds there are a number of tires you can run that are considerably less expensive and still safe.

Good luck with the MC...

Go here:

http://www.racegoodyear.com/pdf/2006_price_book/eagle_dragway_special.pdf

and then to page #6 for the Eagle Land Speed.

If you are running under 200 you have other options as was mentioned.
