I use solvent AKA mineral spirits. Get it at your local bulk oil dealer or paint store. Doug

Who sells kerosene?
In the phone book will be listed a local chemical supplier and there is one near Kent.

Boy, Jack, you Californians must have a strange set of rules.  You've got to go to a chemical supplier for kerosene?  Is that really what you have to do?  Must cost a fortune!

We go to the local gas station -- they've got pumps for kerosene -- about $3.50/gallon last week.

What is kerosene?  I personally use coal oil - it also works good in the right kind of stove and doesn't blow up as well as gasoline.

"Find a need and fill it."
We don't have the same needs in San Diego and I checked.

I use Simple Green, non flammable and supposedly environmentally friendly.  Doesn't work as well as kerosene, but what's a little bit of extra scrubbing?

It will attack aluminum and some finishes if left to sit.  I once got distracted and forgot about a nice shiny chain and came back the next morning to find it not so shiny and stripped.

Who sells kerosene?
Most home improvement stores. Home Depot, Lowes, Ace. Places that sell Kerosene heaters, lamps Ect. They also sell lamp oil in different flavors. Most paint stores also.

Mineral spirits are more expensive than kerosene but some types have far less odor if that's an issue.

Be sure to use exam gloves.
I can get the used ones from the doctor for cheap.

Don't buy your used exam gloves from Jack -- buy them from me.  Remember, my company deals in infectious medical waste -- we've got a much wider selection of pre-worn, stained, cootie-filled gloves than Mr. Dolan.  Quantity discounts if you order in carload quantities, too!
