Interesting link on chassis testing

Here is an ongoing discussion about testing 4130 vs. 1025 DOM tubing with stress test to dent and deform it.

Dave,
 That is a pretty neat sight and the subject was very interesting. My pref is still 1025 DOM for every thing and I use 4130 only when I have to, like aero tubing.
 I built several dirt bikes back in the late 70s and early 80s using 4130 and OA welded them and I really rode the hell out of them and I never broke any thing. I did do a lot of reading regarding OA welding 4130 before I started and was impressed on how well it worked. When I was at Interscope if we welded any small parts from 4130 we had a big box of lime that we would bury the part in to cool. I guess it worked we never had any failures.
