Head Sock........
« on: April 14, 2007, 05:58:09 PM »
A friend sent me a head sock.  There is no manufacture's tag or SFI rating on it.  There is a cleaning tag that has 100% Nomex on it.

Is there normally a tag with the rating on it, or is the 100% Nomex ok to get thru tech??

Thanks,

Sum

Send it back with a thank you note.
Buy the best.  (With SFI tag)
I had to do that a few years ago and now I'm buying Carbon X.

The rulebook requires SFI 3.3 rating for a head sock. No mention of materials.

CarbonX is a yarn created by spinning O-PAN (oxidized polyacrylonitrile) fiber with an Aramid strenghthening fiber. This formula results in a yarn with amazing fire resistant characteristics that serves as the precursor to a wide array of products and applications requiring heat and flame resistance.

I was just asking if they come with a tag or not.  Thanks for clearing that up for me,

I thought a yam was an orange potato.

All wearing apparel sold in the US is required to have a manufactures statement of origin, cleaning instructions, and list of materials.
That is to protect the consumer from inappropriate materials and methods.
The enforcement is every bit as stringent as the return policy at the Swap Meet.
In your case, "NOMEX"might just mean it was not made in Mexico or with Mexican materials.
Simpson brand belts are made off shore (that is my nice) for example.
SFI is specified for a reason.

Dan, you need to start wearing your glasses when you use the computer, at your age yarn and yam look the same to old eyes...

New rule - 72 point type face from now on. I had to use a magnifying glass to indeed discover that yarn is not a orange potato.
