info on a car
« on: February 18, 2007, 08:06:12 PM »
I am interested in finding the fastest speed a certain car has ran.  Is there any way to view results from the last 4 or 5 years of bonneville?I can view 2006, the car in question was at the meet, but failed to make a run.

I hate to be a smart ass, but sometimes I just can't help myself.  Have you tried landracing.com?  Jon Amo has quite a lot of information about the sport, pictures and results.
Try

If you need to go back farther than the site goes, post the car class, number and owner if known, and somebody can probably help.
Have fun exploring landracing.com

Hey Stainless! That was a really good idea, except Jon hasn't updated the links on that page. None of them work.
Well, it used to be Los Angeles . . . 50 miles north of Fresno now.
Just remember . . . It isn't life or death.
It's bigger than life or death! It's RACING.

The question about the speed for the car is still a question in large part because the identification of the car remains a question.
Does that answer your question  ?
I hope that answer provokes a thought.

Way to go, Stainless.
You get on TV a few times and suddenly you're number 1 (in your own mind).

Here are a few of the cars that I was curious about.  1936 mr, 466 f/gmr, 534 A /str and 369 c/gr.  A fastest speed is all I am looking for.

He has always been "#1" in just about everything he does. He has had Studebakers since he was a kid. You guys live in the same town maybe you could take the old "dickhead" out for a beer. I could post a realy good photo of him, but maybe later.

Here are a few of the cars that I was curious about.  1936 mr, 466 f/gmr, 534 A /str and 369 c/gr.  A fastest speed is all I am looking for.

You might not need them, but I have pictures on 466 and 369 here:

http://purplesagetradingpost.com/sumner/bville-cars-2/bville-cars%20index-2.html

I'm looking for pictures of the other two.

In 2006 369 ran a 224.950 on 8-12 and 224.857 on 8-13 both in the 3rd mile on the long course.  I couldn't find any other times.  The number ran as a C/GR

In 2006 1936 ran 249.009 on 8-12, 241.840 on 8-13, 238.470 on 8-14, 240.755 on 8-15, 243.458, 243.179 and241.412 all on 8-17 (very consistent car).

Also in 2006 466 ran a 0.00 (turnout) on 8-17 and I couldn't find any other times.

Also in 2006 534 ran a 226.806 on 8-14, 174.244 on 8-15, 227.812 on 8-17
and 214.210 on 8 18.

In 2005 369 running as a D/FR ran a 202.88 on 8-13, 227.837 on 8-14.

I couldn't find times on 466 in 2005.

If you guys join SCTA/BNI you get the Official Speed Week Results in a very nice book form with all the runs for every car that ran in every mile that they clocked a speed in.

I hope I have found all the times that I gave above, but I might have over looked something.

c ya,

Sum

That was pretty good.
From the time you identified the cars in question to an answer that exceeded your desire was 1 day.
Everything in between and seemingly worthless was "ELEVATOR MUSIC "
Part of the big advantage here is you are exposing your question to a large group of interested parties and some of them will quickly offer the correct information.
If they get it wrong, that gets the proper attention also.
The added benefit is the answer often helps a number of others.
Don't be shy like me.
