e85.... fuel or gas?
« on: January 15, 2007, 04:33:18 PM »
Just wondering how this will be handled. In Ohio e85 is available now. Will it be considered race fuel or gas when it is commonly available. Has qualities of both and runs really cool. Octane is said to be about 105 which isn't bad out of a pump..
just curious..There is a lot of interest in the tuner crowd using it with turbos etc..

Well for Bonneville it would end up being Fuel.  (Unless the gas supplier brings it and labels it as gas . . . since you have to use meet supplied "gas" in a sealed tank to run the gas class and set a record.)

For El Mirage I guess it depends on how they test it and how e85 shows up in the tests.

E-85 will fail the DC test at El Mirage as gas.

GM set three(?) records using E85 at Speedweek, all in the fuel classes.
