This is pretty interesting, good video on the Aussie Invader. Worth watching.

We're told that the Invader would decelerate at 16 g if thrust went to zero at 1000 mph, but at 800 mph the air brakes will be deployed. If drag is proportional to the square of speed, at 800 deceleration would still be over 10 g without the air brakes. Is the drag/speed curve different at supersonic speeds?

The video is good - but read his book. It appears that for some reason the Aussies cannot raise the funds to conclude this great effort. At least we got to 1,000 kilometers first in 1970. The WORLD is metric.

in the video there is mention that the cars custom built wheels at 1000mph will be turning at approx 10,000rpm,, in what rpm range do we usually see  pneumatic tires fail ??

The Blue Flame in 1970 ran on 4 25-inch diameter forged aluminum wheels. The Goodyear tires were 8:00-25, 34.75 inches OD, inflated to 350psi, and dynamically tested to 850mph. During the record runs, they reached a momentary peak speed of 660mph. That was over 50 years ago. 1000mph pneumatic tires should not be impossible in 2025.

This the wheel we tested dynamically to 850mph.

The Blue Flame tires were rotating at 6400rpm at 660mph. They were rotating at 8220rpm during the 850mph dynamic tests. Larger radius tires rpm is lower for a given speed, therefore the rpm generated centrifugal force on the tire will be lower. It appears to be not a difficult design issue - especially given the advances in the tire materials over 50 years.

The wheels on the Blue Flame bear a striking resemblance to the three-piece modular wheels made by Bill Jongbloed.

That's a spun rim, the cross section in the pics shows a billet machined rim with a lot more meat. I was a little concerned about the speed capability of a spun rim for my liner & designed a billet two piece wheel & had it analyzed before getting them whittled out of some cubic dollar 7075-T6.
It sure seems like Rosco's Rocket has been close to complete for a few years now so I have to assume it's a money issue that's keeping it parked. On a much lesser scale, I always figured building a serious AA/BFS & affording to run it would be two different stories.

Similar appearing designs for the Honda Hawk and The Blue Flame LSR wheels. The motorcycle wheels were 19 inch with 3.50-19 Goodyear 27.2 inch diameter tires inflated to 120psi. The wheels were built to our design by Cragar from 1/4 inch thick spun aluminum disks. They were dynamically tested to 360mph and ran 286mph at Bonneville.

in the video it states that Rosco ran 250mph (253mph) in the go-kart in 1980,, the average go-kart tire is around one foot in diameter, quick calculations tell me that at 250mph those four little tire's would be turning at approx 7000rpm, go figger

Using your numbers for the kart, that's about 8k G at the rim, versus over 20 for the Blue Flame.
