Motorcycle Question
« on: December 19, 2006, 08:41:52 PM »
I would like to build a bike to run for a speed record.  I have a Yamaha YSR that has a 50 CC motor in it.  I would like to replace the 50 cc with a performance 250cc motor.  Can I replace the stock motor or do I have to modify the 50 cc?  Would I be running in the 'M' modified Frame and 'G' modified engine gasoline class?

If the 250 motor you plan to install is a Yamaha then you will run in Modified.  If the motor is say, a Honda, then you are in A (special construction).
Get off the stove Grandad.  You're too old to be riding the range.

Oh, let's not play with the small stuff! This is what you really want!

Oh, yeah, if you run the fairing on gas it would be MPS-G 250 156.511 mph, without the fairing it would be M-G 250 137.169 mph. If it isn't a Yamaha engine, APS-G 250 155.729 mph or A-G 250 142.824 mph. All are Bonneville records. You didn't mention where you wanted to run.
Well, it used to be Los Angeles . . . 50 miles north of Fresno now.
Just remember . . . It isn't life or death.

Do you have legal rubber? I doubt that that bike could keep up with the pit crew races at the Moto GP circuit.

Good point. To qualify as a motorcycle you have to have 15" minimum wheels. The YSR has 12" wheels.
