El Mirage September Meet Cancelled

From the BLM Barstow Office...

"The BLM park ranger staff went out recently this week and evaluated the condition of the lakebed at El Mirage. The BLM staff has decided to close the El Mirage Lake Bed possibly till mid September or maybe longer they do not have an exact date yet. So unfortunately it will not be open in time for the September 10 SCTA race. So sorry everyone! Hope to see you all out on a race when the lakebed is dry."

Not too surprising considering the amount of rain out there this month. I wonder if any of the EM old-timers have ever seen that much water on the lakebed in August?  I'm hoping to make the Nov event. -Dean
