need new class
« on: December 17, 2006, 06:18:19 PM »
wondering what class the" nationally advertized" fastest lawnmower, would be classed under? Have seen go-kart in the LX/FS class. Not sure about the LX primerily the X designation. Would like to see a class for them, if you have ever seen them run you would know why. Not talking about the USLMRA,to slow. thanks shan

I doubt you will ever see SCTA include it. Maybe USFRA will allow it to run for time only.

Who gives a damn? Let them find a speed display in their neighborhood and trust it. We need another group of machines that run their speeds like we need chunked tires.

I don't think that the SCTA would ever allow lawnmowers to run for obvious reasons. They would be classified as "joke" entries, and not taken seriously. The last thing that Speed Week needs is for dozens of lawn mowers showing up and taking up space in the lines.

Besides, the minimum distance for timing is 3 miles. How long does a lawn mower take to reach terminal speed? You can accomplish the same thing by going to your local drag track or back road.

And there is no grass to mow on the salt.

Geez Don you are tough on them..LOL
but in defense of the LM guy they do 'race' bar stools..LOL
Hate to say it but suspect the LM might be more exciting and faster.
Besides think of the classes you could add and even new stuff for things like mower deck size, bagger.. it just boggles the mind. If I run big fan blades in the mower deck for down force would that be ok under the traction control rules???
I was flipping channels the other day and saw some guys racing lawn mowers on a dirt track and thought ok.. someone was a bit bored to come up with this.. But to each their own I guess, at least they get to race them every weekend...

Why not add snowmobiles then?  They race them with small wheels on the skis and if the salt is wet they would be able to race when everyone else couldn't

Well guys , you will look at the LM bunch quite differently when grass overwhelms he salt.
Bar stool racing is a lot more common to todays sport activity and in demand.

Hey, this could add to the debate about "car guys vs. bike guys". Now we could have a seperate Course or week for L/M and "B/S" races. Just a thought.

Hey, maybe we could have a LM with a sidecar
and a passenger........of course they would have to wear SCTA/BNI approved leathers.
