Is a bell mouth considered tapering?

can you explain the rule in question you are asking about....maybe section and part?

This is for a gas roadster, did a new air intake through grill shell. Page 46 section 4.B says shall not taper. I didn?t think a bell mouth is tapering? Came up on a post I put out on FB and somebody said it?s illegal? I would think it would be stated in rule (bell mouth). Not the end of the world just curious.

Although the language stating that just because someone else did it and were not questioned or disallowed, does not mean that YOU can do it (in impound-drat). Point being I have seen a bell mouth on the front of many cars (including mine at a time) and nobody said boo. Can't imagine a bell mouth of 48sqin but you do occasionally see rectangular pipes sticking out through the radiator area on roadsters presumably to supply ram air.

How do you consider a bell mouth to not be tapered? It's a tapered expanding or reducing opening depending on which direction the air is flowing!
