Just doing a quick search of Cycle Gear helmets shows there are some that meet Europe's ECE 22-05 which are approved by the BMST rules.

Here is a link to one of them.

Don,
Thanks for the quick reply.  I have a new modular helmet purchased for my road bike the is compliant with the new criteria, Snell M2015/M2020 or DOT FMVSS218.  Is this considered a ?Full Face? helmet under the AMA rule book?

Since the helmet covers your face and is Snell approved according to the rulebook, I would think it complies. But I am not an inspector. You could email the tech inspector for BMST at tech@bonnevillespeedtrials.com and hope they answer quickly.

But in case that helmet is disqualified on the salt regardless of the answers you get, better bring a compliant non-modular helmet too.

What is a modular helmet... the link looked like a regular helmet with lots of turbulence makers.

A modular helmet is basically a full face helmet with a flip up front half so you can eat donuts while you ride your motor bike.

Whoopee . . .

Do they have a Winchell's model.

(Can you get a "break-away" option for maple bars?)

The rules states 1/ It is mandatory for all participants taking part in practice and races to wear a full-face protective helmet.

Note: it does not state full-face modular!

If I was doing tech there is no way I would let anyone race with one of those things. Just imagine you come off, the catch rips apart and you are doing a salt grinding face plant for a hundred feet. Do yourself a favor and get a proper full face helmet for racing. In my book there are no shortcuts when it comes to personal safety
