Yes, some of the FIA rules are different from (and tougher than) the SCTA's, and there's no wiggle room. 

The latest is that Arce can't make it, so one of his cabinet ministers is coming instead.

About Jim,

the streamliner is matching to the rules, also the FIA, when it becomes to the safety requirement...the FIA is using the SCTA standard

Jim has sent the streamliner around the world to get a chance to run the car....like Marlo, he had a lot of bad luck with the weather situation...and the shipping was for nothing

in the other hand, Jim is still working on to get the streamliner up to speed...did he got a 300+ mph time slip...I can't remember...and when....only in the very low 300....

so, what sense it makes to pay the high FIA fee, knowing that the streamliner is not ready to go against the Burkland record.....

and finally, to my knowledge, he never trained with a crew the one hour turnaround....he didn't have a permanent crew like Burkland or Vesco.....the way as the streamliner is designed, he is not much better than the Burkland and it will be a heck of a job to do that in one hour....and did he knows that the tires will survive two runs...he is the first big streamliner who runs at the Salar de Uyuni...from earlier events it is known that this salt is tire eating like the Australian salt......and here is the chance to run more than only five miles....which makes it tougher....

Jim likes testing and very important.....having fun to go fast...


to all the racer at the salt....go fast.....stay safe.....and enjoy what you can do....

Highest speed so far is 332.871 mph at 2020 World Finals (I think ... tell me if I'm wrong  :-().  Several other runs at 300+.

A big jump to 415+ mph.

I have heard from that runs at the WF 2020...unfortunately, the only pdf which the SCTA provide about the WF 2020 is the one with the records....but not one page about the runs....

so, I couldn't confirm any speed of 300+ mph......

wished I could have the pdf of all the WF 2020 runs....did you got a so pdf....would be great to get them for my archive

First run of the day was Richard Assen on his very long APS?.  He crashed in excess of 200MPH and was taken by ambulance and airplane to a hospital.  He apparently was alert and talking the whole time, and we believe his injuries are not life-threatening.

We had to wait while the airplane and ambulance re-positioned, and repairs were made to the course.  And then the wind came up again.  Then Jamie Williams went out on his snowmobile, and ran 190 against his own 199 record.  He'll try again tomorrow.

Jim Knapp made a short shakedown run from the 0 to the 2.  He told me it went as planned and that it showed he got up to 256 without
experiencing any problems.  He plans on going faster tomorrow.

And we ran out of time. 

The winds are not predicted to be a problem tomorrow, and I would expect that just about everybody will be ready to run!

We were advised last night at dinner that Richard has a broken leg, broken ankle, several broken fingers, and that he will remain in the hospital in Cochabamba for 3 to 4 weeks.

Sid: Yes, I believe the bodywork was on, and Lava Hot Springs is definitely much closer to Boise than Colchai !

Yesterday: I spoke with one of Richard Assen's crew, who advised that they had driven (8-1/2 hours each way) to visit him in the hospital.  They said he was alert and cheerful and that he would be flying home to Australia soon for recovery, rather than staying here in Bolivia.

The wind subsided.

And that's all the good news from yesterday.  Mike Garcia was first with a shakedown run at about 225, followed by a record attempt about 255 on a 262 record, so that was not a qualifier.  He made two more attempts, both of which came up short.

Jim Knapp was unable to find the engine part he needed, so he packed up.

Al Lamb's engine was bad, so he swapped in a new one only to discover it had a bad turbo.  So, the turbo was swapped and he got a run in near the end of the day, but had other problems.

The engine in Jamie Williams' snowmobile was found to have water in the oil, so it was done.  Jamie tried a shakedown run in his streamliner, but abandoned the run, as the tip-over switch kept popping.  He'll try that again today.  Don't know if he'll have time for the turbine bike.

Ack Attack had problems with their electrically-operated outrigger wheels, which took some time to repair.   Then they towed to the far end of the course to try a shakedown run, only to discover several more problems.  They still haven't got any runs in.

And the only push truck has unknown problems which left it unable to push anything up over about 25MPH!

We're all hoping to see something positive on this - our last - day!
