Captain Cook can certainly out spend me but it'll be interesting to see who will be the fastest Kiwi.

What is Jamie Williams liner?
There always seems to be some sort of a logistics issue for somebody going don there.

Jamie purchased the Truz Missile, which set an FIA record at Bonneville (2016 Shootout as I recall) with a 1000cc GSXR at 262MPH.  I did a pre-inspection on it in Fremont in May, and it now has a 1600cc Hayabusa - still unblown.  That bumped the car up a class where the record is only 150MPH.
Arrived in Uyuni yesterday, and hope to finish the inspection of his car - and Jim Knapp's streamliner, too - later today.
The salt is unbelievable!  Hard as a rock and very smooth.  Plus, it's not the least bit sticky!  I went out to the timing tower with the Rice Bros yesterday (80-mile round trip from the hotel), and the car had no salt in the wheel wells.  We didn't track any into the interior, either.
More later.

Thanks for the info.  I think this means we are talking FIA category A-II-7, where the mile and km flying start records are held by Gordon White at 153.xxx mph?

That's correct.  I believe that record was set back in 1989.  The containers have now arrived, so we hope to get things rolling soon.

Is Jim Knapp chasing Tom Burkland's A-I-13 (previously A-I-11) record?

As it turns out, Jim won't be running against Tom Burkland's record.  Rather, Jim decided to withdraw from running under the auspices of the FIA, and will be running "Time Only" instead.

I just left the pit area about 45 minutes ago (appx 1615 EDT).  It appeared that everybody was either ready to run today, or pretty close to it, but nobody did.  There was just too much wind (20MPH when I left).  Jamie Williams had towed his snowmobile to the far end of the course in hopes the wind would die down, but it didn't.  It's predicted to be worse tomorrow, but maybe somebody can run early, before it gets bad.  It's predicted to be even worse then, but better starting on Sunday.

It's also predicted that President Arce will be coming to visit tomorrow.

More later.

Thanks for the updates Jeff.

Too much wind is a bit unexpected - you must all have been hoping "There is never a cloud in the sky and the wind is mostly calm" would be accurate.   :deal  muutt

Not sure why you would go all that way and run TO.  Same clocks, same timers, ...  Unless there is something in the FIA rules that can't be met for some reason.
