Back to Bolivia 2023
« on: January 20, 2023, 08:41:53 PM »
I am helping organize another event in Bolivia in August of 2023. This will be under FIA and FIM rules with officials in attendance. James and Alan Rice will time the event. Those of you serious about setting world records should consider this event. It is an ideal place to run an electric, blown or turbocharged vehicle. Weather is no factor and the track is 15 miles of smooth asphalt like surface. Here is a link with event information.

That is great news.

There may be another event 11-17 September, organised by/for Reg Cook.  See https://cmrchallenges.co.nz/.

Unless Reg has changed his plans, either to be in Bolivia in August or delayed because he won't be ready in 2023.

Back at the beginning of December 2022, Reg Cook posted on his CMR Bonneville facebook page, that he was "Still waiting for Major Gearbox & Engines parts" and "Packing containers starts 10 weeks".

From my calculations, early December plus 10 weeks means mid February. That seems quite soon for a record attempt in September, but he might need a lot of time to move 4 cars and equipment from the dock to Salar de Uyuni.

His site does mention Sept 2023 on this page.
https://cmrchallenges.co.nz/opportunities/

That page appears to have been last modified mid 2022, so perhaps we shouldn't assume that's the latest plan.

This more recent update also mentions Sept 2023.

ack, can you share any information on commitments and/or interest from other teams?  Who do you think might join you in this venture?

Easy to get good salt when it's over a foot thick.  Yea they have folks harvesting salt as well, but most are scraping it off by the pickup load, not the train car load.
they have lots of spots to lay down a 15 mile track...
