Lithium mining at the salt flats?
« on: April 01, 2022, 12:52:25 PM »
Does anyone know if there is lithium in the mix on the salt flats?  I saw the pictures of the digging in Bolivia and the Salton Sea and was curious if the electric cars are going to finish us off?

article in utahbusiness.com - Global Battery Metals has acquired property near Wendover this March.
They intend to extract lithium for EV battery manufacture.

Wonder what they're going to do with the leftover salt.  The company to the north of that has their own salt company.  All good with the BLM -- in Business for Leasing for Monetary returns.  And to think some people think they're the protectors of our government properties.

I was wondering the same thing and it appears that they have been granted a "right of entry" to explore where they might start exploratory drilling. They have not been granted a drilling permit yet as the application still pending.
Also, Global Battery Metals is a Canadian company. I wonder why we grant "foreign" companies any right to US minerals?
We all need to come to the realization that EV is here to stay as all of the major automobile manufacturers are planning their futures on it. There is money to be made by a lot of people. I'd like to see it remain here if possible.

Looks like primary pond 4 and if so is BLM property .
Go ahead, get the lithium, but all Salt leftover gets returned to the north side of the highway.

They've been talking about lithium north and west of Wendover for a number of years now. I'm surprised it's taken this long to start talking about applications and drilling.
