USFRA 2022 Test & Tune Survey
« on: March 06, 2022, 11:53:38 PM »
Received today in the current USFRA Newsletter:    We have had several inquiries as to whether we are planning to have a Test and Tune this year. We need 60 entries, the majority LSR, 130 and 150 Clubs are included in that total. Please give our club secretary Cindy a verbal commitment by March 25th, phone 801-652-1988 or email cindyoli@live.com if you would be prepared to join us on the salt. Entries will need to be in by
May 31st. We cannot guaranty a full refund after that date as costs will start to incur.   Proposed date July 8, 9 & 10th, inspection on the 7th.
You would be able to get a long course sticker.  If salt allows a 2 mile approach to 3 miles of timing lights- only one track.  You would be able to license drivers.   Log books and Drivers books could be purchased.  Entry fee $500.00 for LSR vehicles ($445.00 entry and $55.00 course prep fee)  130 and 150 Club vehicles would be encouraged to enter, entry fee the same as WOS ($225.00 and $325.00) New vehicles could be inspected.  Membership ($50.00) is required for owners and driver/riders.  We hope to see you on the SALT!

Hi Jeff, don't know about the rest of the folks, but if fuel prices keep spiraling out of site, I'll be lucky to afford WOS -doesn't  it figure, the first year that I probably COULD make T&T and Brandon took care of that !  aktion086 Hope to see you at WOS !

I intend to make the test n tune with the liner if the meet goes down. In fact every time there is an event I want to be there.

I (and a bunch of others) got this the other day from Marlo Treit.

The USFRA just announced a "Test and Tune" session to be run in July and the Target 550 team plans to be there with Valerie Thompson sitting in the driver's seat.
At this time everything that came back from the two year hiatus in Australia seems to be OK and our the crew is returning as well.  We need to get some laps at Bonneville to hone their skills as it has been a long time between sessions.
Just before the car left for Australia two new "0" time engines received updated Stage V heads and Hogan intake manifolds.  A fully updated engine was taken to Les Davenport's dyno in Calgary Alberta Canada.  I was pleased with the changes that added horsepower and we tuned for Australia.   Due to the pandemic no runs were made with the new parts at Lake Gairdner in South Australia where it's sea level.  Bonneville is almost a mile high and the density altitude can go over 10,000 feet on any day.. The test session will give us data to retune for the density altitude difference.  Everything appears to be going our way. The possibility of running on "private time" is still being considered before SpeedWeek.
At this time Valerie Thompson still has the "fastest motorcycle" record at Lake Gairdner and Les Davenport has the "fastest car" record.

SAVE THE SALT--  According to current information "the salt reclamation" pumping is also actually happening. Time will tell us if the project has any effect on the surface.

That is the story from the trenches.  m/t

I expect this is the case but can anyone confirm that at test and tune one can licence up and run "time only" but no records, correct?
It would be cool to come down for T&T, or any USFRA event as we have never been to one, money time permitted of course.

Yes, the info from the USFRA said they will do licensing, issue 175 stickers to long course qualifiers and time slips... No records.... everyone is time only.  It will give folks the opportunity to sort out their cars before SpeedWeek.  130 and 150 Club cars included... just need about 60 entrants to commit
