Since I just checked out your tart's & I'm a bit of a recluse in outback America, what's a "Yooper"?

Yooper is slang for a Michigan upper peninsula native. The tarts are pasties, a meat and potato pie that my Italian grandmother learned to bake from the Welch iron miners at the Bates location in Iron River.

I don't have the picture of Nancy wearing the pasty pasties just now so I can't tell you that story, but I will explain the "Yooper" is simply someone that lives in the U. P. -- the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.  Here's a bit about Yoopers - sung by the eponymous band.

Ok I got the Yooper thing now but those pastie/tart/turnover looking things are like women, they all look the same on the outside & you can't tell what's inside until you take a bite. That's when you find out if have a pastie or a tart.
