I haven't seen one, I'd try emailing the MC tech director. Then post here please.

Happy new year folks :)

what is a frontrunner?

Front runner is a car tire made for drag racing Hoosier, Mickey Thompson and M&H all offer front runner drag tires I believe Goodyear offers them also.
Working in the shop I use the 'F' word a lot. No not that word these words Focus and Finish go Fast and Flathead Ford!

They're typically mounted on 4-inch wide, 15-inch diameter wheels, and used on the front of Funny Cars, hence "frontrunners".   They're relatively inexpensive.  Although they do achieve very high speeds (over 300MPH) in drag races, they only maintain those speeds for a fraction of a second.   Therefore, their use on very high speed vehicles at Bonneville is questionable.

They're relatively inexpensive.

...

Now I understand the appeal.

I think Sam is probably talking about the 17 inch dragster tires.  Although I think several fast bikes have used LSR and frontrunners as rear tires.  Joe Amo used one on his bike I think.
When Sparky was making wheels he discovered that they had a motorcycle bead, not an automotive bead... something that none of the tire makers either knew or would share.
They are a made for racing tire, therefore not subject to the age rules the bikes have to follow when using DOT tires.
Jeff, there are a lot of cars running frontrunners on all four and they have exceeded 250 MPH...
The car rules won't let you use the skinny 17 as a drive tire... but there's a lot of them on fronts.

So Sam, hopefully you will ask the SCTA for clarification and get a list to share with us

Sorry,  no frontrunner for motorcycle.
This picture is from the SCTA inspection trailer.

Sam, that looks like a list of MC tires that are approved for over 200...
Did you contact the SCTA about frontrunners or are you assuming since they are not on the list in the picture they must not be allowed....
The last line looks like there is more than we can see in the pic.
The rule book says tires for racing as designated by the manufacturer...

No, I didn't contact the SCTA
Frontrunner are legal for sidecar and that's a different animal.
Read "...car."

My application is motorcycle.
I went with Bridgestone

17" front runners were signed off as acceptable to 210mph in my logbook back in 2013.

Lee Kennedy allowed me to run motor cycle tires on the back of my FWD lakester. I ran 274 mph with no drama. The trick is to sipe or grind the rubber off, especially on the sidewalls where it's put there for laying the bike down in the corners.
