This a sad day day for anyone that knew him. A great friend to my son and I. We will miss him.

Holly crap! We were just talking at SW & he said he'd taken a bang on the head but was feeling a lot better now. He gave a lot to our sport & will be remembered well.

This comes as a bit of a shock. In my book, Mike was one of the last of a quickly disappearing breed: the truly upstanding, all-American good guy. Godspeed, Sir!

I didn't know Mike Cook. Was his father Doug Cook of Stone/Woods/Cook gasser fame?

Jack. No . . . Mike  Jellybean Cook owned and ran a automotive machine shop in Wilmington Ca. when I met him in the early 80s. His love of racing always kept him going. He had and competed in 360 and 410 sprints. He was still competing in the California Seniors mostly at the Ventura track.

He was a mainstay of Ferguson racing an entered the 200 MPH club in their liner powered by a stock head GMC 6 on gasoline during the October World Finals meet. I believe every parachute on every car was packed by Mike.

He was a member of the SCTA Rod Riders for many years. He also had a front engine early Blown Chrysler top fuel dragster.

He mentored my son with his dirt circle track super stock; they always talk about dirt racing when we were pitted next to the Ferguson cars. He was a great guy with a happy smile. We will miss him.
