Speed Demon Book Available in Early October
« on: August 26, 2021, 11:02:57 PM »
The first pre-production sample of my new book, Speed Demon, The World's Fastest Piston Powered Car, arrived today and it looks great. Every bit as high quality as the previous Goldenrod book. A 288-page full-color history of the Speed Demon land speed racing team. It includes a completed build sequence from the very first piece of tubing to the finished vehicle which has been officially clocked at 481 mph at the Bonneville Speed Week. It also contains a full description and build sequence for the various turbocharged Chevrolet V8's that power the car, a full aerodynamics and wind tunnel report, sensors and technology section, Speed Week event results from 2016-2021, a crew member recognition chapter, and a full report of all the records achieved and a rundown of over 55 runs over 400 mph. All presented in nearly 600 color photos, charts, and illustrations. The printer is telling me they can have the books to our fulfillment warehouse in late September or maybe the first week of October at which everyone who signed up for the early bird list will receive an e-mail to let them know the books are ready to ship. Like the previous Goldenrod, there will also be a full-color 36x24 art print. To get your name on the early bird list go to https://speeddemonbook.com and sign up. Hope you all enjoy it.

Looking forward to this.  Goldenrod book was great - very well written and full of accurate and interesting information.

... and a full report of all the records achieved and a rundown of over 55 runs over 400 mph ...

According to my records, the two Speed Demons have between them made 56 runs over 400mph (counting four where only the exit speed was 400+).

You are correct. Some occurred after the book went to press and there are certain to be more. Despite the issues affecting us this year at Speed Week several runs over 400 were achieved, but no new records were set.

I've got to ask: is the book available yet?   :-P

It was originally due into LA harbor on November 11, but it was stuck in the offshore log jam all this time. The ship docked on 12/3 and is awaiting unloading. When they reach the warehouse we will post the update to everyone who signed up for the Earlybird list at WWW.speeddemonbook.com to let people know they are ready to ship. Apologies for the delay but it was beyond our control. We are awaiting 9 pallets of books.
