BMST 2021
« on: August 26, 2021, 04:46:54 PM »
There's no chatter here about the event on the salt this weekend.
I find that interesting.
What's the deal?

I for one am getting pretty excited.
Picking up the U haul trailer tomorrow morning and heading out for the salt early Saturday.

Good luck to all of you who are racing, go fast and stay safe!

So...
There doesn't appear to be a whole lot of love around here for the bmst.
interesting.
Is it because it not a scta event?

Not sure where you drew that conclusion from... Many of us here have spent lots of time at the Bub... now BMST.  Hopefully y'all have a safe event.... I heard last year there were several course crossings and close calls...
Keep us posted how it goes

I didn't hear anything stainless,
just wondering out loud.

I think I heard that a long time ago, the ama and scta used to work together and then split.
Is that true? IDK.

Yes, back in the 70's or early 80's the SCTA started keeping their own motorcycle record books... If you look hard at the AMA records you will see there are still some of those records set at SCTA events still in the book and vice versa.

The lack a chatter is squarely on the folks that plan to attend, attend and fail to report

I was planning on competing at BMST this year but both my bikes are not ready. BMST is AMA sanctioned which gives you a national M/C record and in my opinion has more recognition than an SCTA (regional) record. You can also get a "international" record through FIM.

I am hoping those who are attending will post news and photos here during the next week.

I looked through the pre-entries and there are a bunch of interesting bikes going. https://bonnevillemst.com/2021pre-entry/

One that stood out for me was the BUB 7 streamliner - it's been a while for that bike. Valerie Thompson in the seat.

See https://www.fim-moto.com/en/news/news-detail/article/world-records-tumble-at-bmst-day-1 for a report on day one.

And https://www.fim-moto.com/en/news/news-detail/article/tough-luck-and-lessons-learned-at-day-2-of-bonneville-motorcycle-speed-trials for day two.

Very much from an FIM perspective.  There's probably someone out there who knows about any AMA records.  :deal

Thanks for posting these, I couldn?t find anything on social media. Congrats to new record setters!

I saw some results on the BMST site, but it wasnt clear if it from was from this year. It showed Erin Sills going 236 on a 1000cc unblown bike - which is outstanding. It wasnt in the FIM summary, so I guess its old?

Cheers :)
