air pressure in Goodyear 2904 tires
« on: August 26, 2021, 02:00:47 PM »
What pressure are you running in the Goodyear 2904 tires?   Online document from Goodyear lists 90 psi min.  Most of the other LSR tires list 70 psi min.  Just what to see what others have run them at.

Thanks,
Sproing, crack, ouch!

Goodyear wants 90 psi on the tires used by top fuel cars as they are ran at over 330 mph and you need the pressure to keep them on the wheel also the aero loads at 330+ are pretty high so the higher pressure works better. We use the 2904 on our lakester and since we are only in the 200+ speed area we run 70 psi with no problems also our front wheel loads are under 200 lb each and we have no aero loads. We did run some M/T 2.25 x 17 at one time and only ran 60 psi and had one come off of the rim at around 185. Best thing is to call Goodyear let them know your application and maybe they will give you a lower pressure or just run 90 psi and no problem. Be sure to have a good compressor as at 90 they leak pretty good, check between every run.

We run 80 pounds in our 2904 front tires were close to the max weight the tires can handle per Goodyears specification's. Top speeds so far 229 . The latest set I purchased which now have 16 miles on them running at Speedweek this year do not leak down as bad as prior sets.
