was a 500 cc diesel about 50 hp with aluminum sprockets , moving up to a 1150 cc diesel about 125 hp , the 530 size was what I figured was being used and would use steel sprockets . so who did your sprockets ? seems like all I can find are aluminum custom made sprockets .

JT and Vortex have a selection. McMaster-Carr also sells steel sprockets.

The Bockscar uses a 530 chain, steel drive, aluminum driven sprockets. Chain is about 10K tensile strength IIRC.

Bob,
We run a 530 chain also which we purchased from Motochains.com . It is their drag racing style chain that does not have O rings so it is very flexible and very low friction. It is rated at 250 hp and I think that our motor is around 200. They have lots of chain and sprocket stuff and worth looking at.

while we are on the subject of motorcycle chains, no joiner, or joiner link ??
with almost fifty years drag racing, including 15 LandSpeed, I have always ran #530 non oring dragrace spec chain, always used a c'clip joiner link, coated with silastic, "never had them fail"
