Johnboy Gowetski ain't dead but...
« on: August 04, 2021, 11:59:25 PM »
Won't be making Bonneville with the Bockscar Team.... No we didn't fire him, Johnboy was feeling a little more sluggish than usual when he was at my house for Dyno Daze... So he called his doc and made an appointment.  Well he went to the doc yesterday and they kept him.
In the morning he will be getting a triple bypass... 2 at 80, 1 at 90% stopped up.  Doc said he won't be ready to travel after, so he will miss and be missed at Bonneville.
Keep him in your prayers tomorrow and for a couple days please.
My guess is he should be good for WoS...

Triple bypass? Give him at least 5 weeks before you have him hauling wheels and gas cans. 8^))

JohnBoy sent me after his doctor appointment the (shocking) news.....

and he meant.....after the refreshment he will feel much better....

looks that this was a very sudden show up from the trouble....but call it luck....it could be during the trip to Wendover or in the heat of the Bonneville Salt Flats....

now he is under the proper protection in Denver

wish you a Speedy recovering, brother JohnBoy.....

stay tough

Johnboy,

Best wishes for your outcome from the "procedure".   Don't do too much, too soon afterward.

And congratulations for being "smart enough" to go to the doctor.    Most "tough guys" are not . . . . . . .

Stainless, maybe Johnboy learned from you and me how much fun heart surgery can be and decided to give it a try.

Best wishes for a quick, complete, and speedy recovery, Mr. Gowetski, Sir.

Well reports of his demise are greatly exaggerated.... Doc reports all went well and a full recovery is expected... Johnboy is in the cardiac ICU and was not answering his phone this afternoon... OK, he is still on the "way too drugged up to do anything" part of the recovery... I expect he will be answering his phone sometime tomorrow....

Get well soonest, Johnboy.

You'll probably never again have a cold adult beverage before noon at my place again, but as the great philosopher Ian Fleming could have said "Never Say Never" (RIP Sean Connery).

Mike, natural blood thinners are good for you anytime... I think it was probably the bacon cooked in butter, but I'm not a doctor
Johnboy is up and around looking just like his old self only different.   :?
Keep moving JB, we made it through tech and are ready to roll

Johnboy,

And congratulations for being "smart enough" to go to the doctor.    Most "tough guys" are not . . . . . . .

With a long family history of heart problems and the loss of some friends and one of my younger brothers I was well aware of what to look out for. No heart attack just some blockage that was taken care of. I feel better today, 6 days post op, than I did 5 months after my 2017 crash.

It's all your fault!  You could have scheduled this better so we could all see and greet you.  If there's another situation like this, please take your friends into consideration.

(Thanx for the progress report, glad to hear it.)
